We launched our new company, Glean last week. A number of friends and former colleagues asked me why I chose Glean. This is why.

I’ve been lucky to help build some beloved global brands and products that positively impacted the lives of millions of people. Google put the world’s information at my fingertips; Evernote helped me remember everything. I still wondered:

Why do I have these powerful tools in my personal life, but not in my work life?

The pace and magnitude of change at work are unprecedented, and we’re working from anywhere and everywhere. The explosion of SaaS applications makes specific tasks easier, but makes it much harder to find what I need to get important things done. Glean is defining a new category. It’s a work assistant that solves exactly this.

There have been several superficially similar attempts. But they failed. It’s a hard technical problem that requires brains (machine learning), brawn (ability to handle large amounts of data), and beauty (design). Above all, it requires a single-minded commitment to build something that people find genuinely useful.

In the weeks leading up to our launch, our team articulated why we’re here and how we’re going to shape the future of work. Here it is.

Meet Glean. The work assistant with intuition.

The future of work is changing too fast. And we’re only human. You want to make a difference, but how can you with so many apps, with everyone moving so fast, and with critical information being generated every minute of every day?

The problem is no one can keep up.

The average company uses almost 300 different tools internally. Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, Confluence, Asana, Salesforce, Zendesk, Github, the list goes on. There’s an app for everything, often more than one. Now more than ever at work, we’re overwhelmed, anxious, or nervously excited at the very best.

Let’s be honest, we need some help.

Help to make sense of it all. But how? Key conversations are happening around the clock in person, remotely, and across the globe while you’re sleeping. Where in the world is everything, and why do I have to spend so much time looking for it? Search results are in silos, and interruptions from notifications and teammates take us away from making progress on our top priorities. No wonder we feel so drained.

There’s no way we could know everything we need to know. But, what if there was?

What if you could know what your company knows — instantly.

What if you could know things, like you know to wake up in the middle of the night to turn off the oven. Or like you know there’s something still missing in the deck you’re presenting to your boss tomorrow. Or like you know to trust that your idea is not only going to work, but that it’s going to change the world. Now you can with Glean.

The work assistant with intuition.

Intuition is the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning. It’s not magic. It’s inside all of us. It comes from our innate ability to glean information from our collective experiences, and understand the relationships connecting each and every one.

This is how Glean works.

Glean brings you exactly the information you need, right when you need it.
Making it easier for you and your team to get big things done.

It searches all of your apps, across your entire company, understanding context, language, behavior, and relationships with others, to find personalized answers to your questions.

It surfaces knowledge, and makes connections with the people who can help. So you and your team never miss a thing.

With Glean, you’ll gain invisible knowledge you never knew existed. Be able to search for rare knowledge hidden deep inside a company server in Tokyo. And get the latest knowledge too.

Know Pam is working on something that could make your project better. Know that little tidbit Warren shared on Slack a few months ago. And know what you missed this morning while you were making coffee with Christine that could change everything!

Now, there’s nothing standing in the way of you and your team getting big things done. Glean is fired up and ready to go, right out of the box. So, what are you waiting for?

Know what your company knows — instantly.

We’re here to bring people the knowledge they need to make a difference in the world. And we’re ready to bring it to you with Glean.

Bring the knowledge!
